What is Ultimate?

A far cry from playing catch with your dog, we'll pass this one off to USA Ultimate, the governing body of the sport in the United States. Check out their Discover Ultimate page here:

History

Walla Walla Valley Ultimate was founded in 2021 as a 501(c)(3) public charity, non-profit corporation.  We are actively seeking to increase the opportunities for recreational athletes to compete in the sport of Ultimate.  Currently our finances are being reinvested into these opportunities, and any additional revenue is being invested into expanding availability to coaching for youth teams.

Who We Are

The officers and board members of Walla Walla Valley Ultimate are elected by the board of directors annually, and represent active players from Walla Walla and its surrounding areas who  volunteer their time to bring playing opportunities to the community. If you have any questions, reach out to us at: info@wwultimate.com

Allison Henckel

VP Compliance & Operations

Allison Henckel fell in love with Ultimate her freshman year of college at George Fox University in 2011. Playing pick up was the highlight of her college experience. Embarking on the journey of single foster parenting in 2016, Jesus and Frisbee kept her sane. When moving back to her hometown Walla Walla in 2019, she thought her frisbee days were over. What a joy to find not only ultimate frisbee but some really amazing people making year 2022 the best one yet. She is thrilled to see the club grow and for more people to catch the frisbee love.

Justin Knight

Vice President Local Initiatives & Props

Justin Knight has been playing Ultimate since 2011 when he discovered his love for the sport in PE at Walla Walla High.  As a Walla Walla native, Justin played with various local groups and Pasco summer league for several years.  He played in college for University of Idaho Red Scare men's club, and served as capatin in his senior year.  Since graduating from University of Idaho in December 2020, he returns to the Walla Walla Valley hoping to bring Ultimate back to life in the surrounding area.

Founding Members and Past Board Members

Alex Edison

2021 - 2023

Alex Edison has been playing Ultimate in the area since he first moved to town to attend college 115 years ago. Conflicted after his first desire to become an old-timey-tie-folks-to-the-train-tracks villain (just a regular villain back then) came to an end after failing his ethics class, he decided to stick around and anchor the Walla Walla Ultimate community for generations to come. Guiding it towards its eventual formation as Walla Walla Valley Ultimate in 2021.
